All Children are welcome at Provident Charter School (PCS). Although PCS intends to actively market and serve children with dyslexia, other language- based disabilities and difficult reading, PCS will have an open, non discriminatory admissions policy. The process described below ensures that all applicants are treated fairly.
PCS will be open to all students on a space-as-available, first-come-first served basis within each grade. PCS will not discriminate on any basis, including intellectual ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, athletic ability, disability, English language proficiency, race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, or ancestry or other protected class. PCS shall not inquire about the immigration status of a student as part of the enrollment process. There will be no admissions requirements, and no tests of any sort will be given to determine whether admission is granted. Admissions preference will be given to all students who reside within the School District of Pittsburgh, and no preference will be given to any particular resident(s) within the city limits. In accordance with Pennsylvania’s charter school law, PCS will give preference to students of parents/guardian who have been or will be actively involved with the development of PCS and to siblings of students already enrolled in PCS. The non-discriminatory policy delineated here will apply during the enrollment for the initial year of PCS’s charter and for each subsequent year thereafter as PCS enrolls students in grades where seats are available.
