No Homework? No Problem!

At PROVIDENT CHARTER SCHOOLS (PCS) we are experts in teaching language arts and math skills for elementary and middle school students. But it may surprise you to learn that along with all that classroom learning, PCS doesn’t assign homework! Wondering why? We’re glad you asked!

Backed by Science

Studies have consistently shown that more homework in elementary school does not lead to better performance on standardized tests. In fact, research suggests that excessive homework at a young age can lead to frustration, burnout, and even a negative association with learning. At PCS, we believe in evidence-based practices—and when the evidence shows that homework doesn’t help our students thrive, we listen.

Time to Recharge

At PCS, our students engage in rigorous academics, collaborative learning, and hands-on exploration throughout the school day. That way, when the bell rings, they can head home and do what kids are meant to do: relax, play, spend time with loved ones, pursue hobbies, and recharge their minds. We honor the importance of unstructured time for creativity, emotional well-being, and balanced development.

Pacing that’s Just Right

Does your child struggle to complete homework assignments that other students seem to breeze through? You’re not alone. Traditional homework assumes every student learns the same way and at the same pace. At PCS, we tailor our instruction to meet each student where they are during the school day, so they don’t carry that stress home. Our no-homework approach helps reduce anxiety and builds a healthier relationship with learning.

Ready for your child to drop homework and embrace learning? We’d love to welcome your family to PCS!
